Welcome to Fiemme Valley - Val di Fiemme
Right in the heart the Trentino-Alto Adige Region, deep in the green and sorrounded by mountains, with the majestic Pala Group in the background, it's hard for visitors to forget our valley and it actually remains in everyone's heart!
About 45 minutes away from Bolzano and 50 from Trento, it's easy to reach thanks to a good and well looked after road system. The main villages are Cavalese and Predazzo. The first one is a well known tourist destination, loved by visitors both in winter and summer and headquarters of the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, an insitution with more than 1000 years of history that today rules the woodland heritage of the valley.
Cavalese was also the summer residence of many prince-bishops from Trento, who left us the "Magnifica Comunità's Palace" that today hosts a rich art gallery full of masterpieces by local painters, exhibitions and theatralized visits that tell about our history.
Not far from the palace is the Contemporary Art Centre that offers many activities and different courses for adults and children. In Cavalese there is also the Fiemme Hospital, with wards such as Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Maternity and Gynecology, Radiology, Pathology, First Aid, Dialysis Centre, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, specialized polyclinics.
Predazzo is the second centre of the valley, dominated by Monte Feudo (Latemar Group) and headquarters of the "Scuola alpina della Guardia di Finanza", it hosts the Dolomiti's Geological Museum where it's possible to admire the new discovered mineral called "Fiemmite" and many other interesting exhibitions.
Predazzo is a cheerful centre exactly like its inhabitants, rich of meeting places, bars, restaurants, traditional festivals and events, most of all in summer and winter.
There are three large and well-stocked supermarkets in Predazzo, Tesero and Carano; modern boutiques and craft shops are located in several villages of the valley.
Val di Fiemme is really involved in offering a varied culinary experience and its local products are the strong point in the menu of the many restaurants and agritourisms. To complete the overview of the recreation areas, there are wine bars, après-skis, pubs with live music and two disco-clubs.
Almost all the villages offer a public library: the biggest are those in Cavalese, Predazzo and Tesero that frequently organize animated reading sessions for kids and teens and many different courses and night events.
The cinema in Tesero and the brand-new one in Predazzo offer a rich movies programme, even in 3D.
On the sporty side, the possibilities in the area are countless, with 5 gyms displaced in the whole valley, an ice skating rink, 2 swimming pools, courses of classical ballet, modern, jazz, yoga, pilates, pregnancy and post pregnancy yoga, martial arts, climbing courses in and outdoor, a cycle route 48 km long that starts from the high Fassa Valley and arrives until the end of Fiemme Valley with the opportunity to get till Ora cycling by the river Adige.
For those who love the wild nature, the Lagorai mountain range, that frames the whole valley, offers spectacular scenaries in which is still possible to admire rests of tranches and bivouacs from World War I, infacts this mountain range was background of Italian-Austro-Hungaric conflicts.
In winter the activities aren't less, with more than 80 km of cross-country tracks, three skiing resorts really important in the alpine ski world, many trails for who loves to walk with snow-shoes and for the experts countless are the hikes for ski mountaneering. At the end of the day it's possible to relax in one of the many spa hotels open to the public or in the wellness area in the Aquatic Center in Cavalese.
Over the years flourished in the valley many associations that aim to share cultural and social activities for every age group, but also for the family, for women in the puerperium and in the early years of their children, that go on with a vaste range of opportunities for the following years.
Val di Fiemme, more than being so livable and cheerful, is cutting-edge in the productive industry; is in fact, headquarters of many internationally well known industries.
And this is just a rapid panoramic of what our wonderful valley has to offer!
